I’ve always wanted the Canon 90mm tilt-shift lens. Figured it’d be good for selective focus portraits and other stuff, so I traded an old 20D and wide-angle zoom and a few bucks and picked one up today. Like it so far:

This coyote’s been hanging around the neighborhood – and specifically, the back yard – kind of frequently in the past couple of days. He (she) wouldn’t stay still when I had a clear line of sight, so I had to shoot while it was on the run. Problem there is that it was a cloudy dawn and there wasn’t a whole lot of light. Compound that by the fact that I’m shooting with a 2X converter on a 70-200mm f/2.8 zoom (effectively shooting a 400mm f/5.6 lens at f/9 at an ISO of 800), and you get the surprising exposure time of 1/4 second. Initially, I was disappointed, knowing that it was going to be a blurry shot, but once I actually took a look at it, I thought it was pretty cool.

And this guy has been having dinner (OK, being nocturnal, maybe he’s having breakfast) out in front of the house lately:

OK – it’s been a while since the last time. Sorry. Hot hot hot out – just like I like it. The vegetable garden’s doing grrrreat! since we’ve had a bunch of sun and we haven’t had a repeat of the past two years wherein all of June and some of July were rain-soaked.
Here are some pics:
For the 4th of July, Paula and I traveled up to a friend’s house in New Hampshire for some free food:

This was a test done in June with Jenna of Maggie, Inc. Wanted to be happy and commercial looking:

Also – did a test with Evelyn at Maggie. Needed to do a head shot and body shot. We shot mostly up on the roof around sunset between thunderstorms:
